Triton fontænen
Fontænen Triton er udført af billedehuggeren Axel Poulsen. Den blev oprindeligt indviet 20. juli 1928 og kostede dengang den nette sum af kr. 9.975,40. Pengene blev rejst fra Ny Carlsberg fondet, Nyborg Kommune og ved indsamling.
På grund af hærværk og stigende vedligeholdelsesudgifter blev springvandt i 1988 lukket og de efterfølgende år forfaldt det hurtigt.
I 1998 blev fontænen renoveret og genindviet med hjælp fra Fyens Stifstidende. Fontænen fungerede de næste par år, men blev igen ramt af nedbrud og huller i bassinet og blev derfor lukket igen.
I 2014 tog lokale Bent Yagi initiativ til at få fontænen renoveret igen. Han fik tilsagn fra Nyborg Kommune om, at han måtte gå i gang med at få tilbud fra håndværkere. Der blev sendt en ansøgning til Albani fonden om støtte til renoveringen. Albani fonden bevilgede i november 2015 støtte til renovering af Triton fontænen.
Arbejdet med renovering af fontænen blev sat i gang i foråret 2016 og i maj var arbejdet afsluttet og fontænen kunne igen springe med vand.
The Triton fountain
The Triton fountain, made by sculptor Axel Poulsen, was originally inaugurated on 20 July 1928 and, back then, cost the tidy sum of DKK 9,975.40. The money was raised by the New Carlsberg Foundation, Nyborg Municipality and general fund raising.
As a result of vandalism and rising maintenance costs, the fountain was closed in 1988 and rapidly fell into a state of decay in the years that followed.
In 1988, the fountain was renovated and reopened with the help of the local Funen newspaper Fyns Stiftstidende. The fountain worked for the next few years, before again being hit by breakdowns and holes in the basin, leading to its re-closure.
In 2014, local resident Bent Yagi took the initiative to have the fountain renovated again. He was given the go-ahead by Nyborg Municipality to start obtaining quotes from craftsmen. A grant application was submitted to the foundation Albani Fonden to help fund the renovation. In November 2015, Albani Fonden granted funds for the renovation of the Triton fountain.
Renovation work began in spring 2016, with completion in May, when the fountain could sponce againout jets of water.
