Geocache Description:

The film 'The Bridges of Madison county' featured some breathtaking scenery. It portrayed Clint Eastwood as a photographer doing a portfolio on old bridges.

I have always loved little low water bridges.  We used to catch eels off them when we were kids.

I met up with a local while I was placing the cache.  Jan Henry Williams (67) says that the river last flowed at the end of Dec.  According to the local clinic sister the water is now so foul that there are little worms living in it ("met 'n kop en 'n stert en alles") and it upsets your tummy terribly.  According to Jan Henry - "jou maag is so los jy sit vir dae in die kleinhuis, en jy raak sommer swak". He also showed me the pole at the side of the bridge that shows the locals when it is still safe to cross the bridge when the river is in flood.  While the water level is within the green section of the pole you can cross.  "Hooger as dit sleep die water jou weg!" What an interesting character - Mr Jan Henry Williams
