Geocache Description:

This geocache was planted on Valentine's Day 2017 to celebrate our first Valentine's Day together.  This cache is the first in a series of caches that we'll hide in the Niagara area to commemorate a date very early in our relationship that had us visiting 19 different places (mostly related to the War of 1812) in a single day.

The McFarland House was one of our favorite stops and we go back often to do a tour, a BBQ, or just hang around in the park.

The McFarland House is a beautiful Georgian style house built by John McFarland and his sons in 1800.  It is one of the oldest buildings in Niagara-on-the-Lake and survived the burning of Newark in December 1813.  During the War of 1812, the British and Americans used the house as hospital.

The cache is situated in the park near the house and there is parking onsite.
