Road Forks was once a small, bustling community where truckers would fuel up, rest, have tires repaired, eat a good hot meal and rest. People lived here, in houses and trailers. The last resident left in late 2016 and now this area is a ghost town. Just a few years ago, someone was raising turkeys and other small livestock at one of the properties here. I have always been intrigued by it, even when the store, restaurant and nearby motel were operational in the not so distant past (less than 10 years ago).
I recall driving by here about 8 years ago and noticed someone letting off a beautiful display of fireworks from this location. Even then, it was desolate and the images of bright colours bursting in the sky has left a lasting memory.
