Geocache Description:

This cache was placed to recall the day I met Chainsaw - one of our feline family members.

It is an easy traditional geocache hidden just off the hiking trail that abuts the South Park Golf Course.

In May of 2015, geodog Trixie RIP and I were on our morning hike along this trail when I noticed two round eyes staring at us from further down the path. At first I thought it was a raccoon, but the owner of the eyes did not climb the nearby tree or run away from us. As we slowly approached, I realized it was a cat; a very friendly cat. He had big blue eyes and curly silver fur. Although he was a little skittish, apparently he liked us enough to follow us down the path. In fact, he followed us for the entire rest of our hike - over 1.5 more miles! When we got back to the Jeep, I realized he couldn't possibly be one of the park's feral cats; he was just too friendly. So I put him in the Jeep, and we headed home.

I placed "Found Cat" signs all over the park and nearby neighborhoods, at local pet supply stores and veterinary offices, had him scanned for a microchip (he didn't have one), and listed in lost and found pet websites. Nobody ever responded, and that's how Chainsaw became the newest member of our family.

Chainsaw is a chubby little dude with crooked front teeth who fits right in with our other feline family members. He and elder boy cat Elwood RIP loved to wrestle and chase all over the house. I'm glad to have met him on the trail that day.
