Geocache Description:

Happy 15th Birthday to Ye Olde Survey Monuments (YOSMs)!! On 25th March 2002, the first YOSM was placed at Failand Surface Block near Bristol. Just in case you have not heard of this cache before, YOSM (GC45CC by outforthehunt) is a virtual cache which you log by visiting a specific survey monument, pillar, surface block, rivet or bolt.

What makes this cache special is that it moves around the UK.There is no physical container to find, just a photograph and the co-ordinates.It has over 700 locations around the UK and any of the past posted trigs can be logged.

We discovered this virtual cache in 2012 and since then have had a small obsession with visiting this roaming cache around the country. We enjoy finding the different types and although rural ones have the better views on the whole; due to time constraints on this day we have chosen a rather nice urban pillar to host a small event. So to celebrate the 15th birthday please join us for a meet and greet at this urban triangulation pillar which we hope will become a YOSM in its own right in time for the event. Please do not attempt to drive up the cul de sac as this a residential area and no space for parking, please park at the recommended parking area.
