Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the given coordinates.  This is a Reverse Wherigo.

Before attempting this cache please ensure you have downloaded the latest version of this cartridge from Wherigo.com.

The cartridge was developed by -Waldmeister- and has been used by cachers all over the world to develop their own Reverse Wherigo.

There are three 6-digit numbers to activate the cartridge; you will be able to obtain these by visiting the church.

  • Download the Reverse Wherigo cartridge onto your device of choice. The cartridge will inform you of the distance to the cache, but not the direction; you will have to figure that out on your own but, in reality, there aren't that many choices.
  • At the start of the cartridge, you will need to enter three 6-digit numbers to activate it. To find the numbers, go to the posted coordinates and look at the wooden bench to the left of the church gate.. You will notice two dates carved into the wood; make these numbers 19AB and 19CD
  • Substitute the letters for the numbers and you will be able to enter these into the cartridge one by one when prompted:

7A5B4B

3CD417

A575B2

  • You are now ready to start this Wherigo! Please note that once you are within 25m of the cache, you will be able to view the final coordinates.

The Church

St Michael and All Angels is built of Forest Stone with Bath Stone dressings. In the Early English style. The Church consists of Chancel, north Vestry, Nave, north Aisle, south Porch and embattled 15th-century western Tower. The latter is the only remaining portion of the old Church, which was destroyed by fire in 1699. Built in three stages with Battlements and stone Water-Chutes it is capped with a striking low, tiled Pyramidal Roof. The Church was rebuilt in 1869 by Mr F.R.Kempson, architect of Hereford. The stained glass east window is early 20th century. The Tower was repaired and the five existing bells recast and a sixth bell added in 1912. In the same year the Clock Tower was added.

The Church is striking for the red colour of its Forest Stone and the Pyramidal Roof of the Tower. The approach to the Church is through an extremely pretty Churchyard which contains a number of 17th and 18th century chest tombs and headstones. Despite the 15th century Tower, the church has a staunchly Victorian appearance with steep sloping Eaves, chunky Support Brackets and huge heavyset Diagonal Buttresses. The internal space has a lovely overall simplicity. The Forest Stone remains exposed and encaustic tiles pave the floor. There is a four-bay Nave and a two-bay Chancel Arcade in unpolished grey stone divides the space.
