Toad is a character who is Princess Peach’s attendant, and longtime protector of the Mushroom Kingdom. He is actually a singular character among an entire species of look-alikes, much like Yoshi and the Yoshi species. He usually has the role of supporting character who helps Mario on his adventures, although he occasionally has been a main protagonist, as in Super Mario Bros. 2. Most of the time, Toad is portrayed as a cowardly character, but is also one of the most innocent and humble characters in the series. Toad is a playable character in most Mario games, including Mario Kart, Mario Golf, and Mario Party.
