Belwood Lake Conservation Area
Tree Planting
This CITO is held in cooperation with the Grand River Conservation Authority
When: April 29 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, event will run Rain or Shine
Where: Near Belwood Lake Conservation Area, See posted Coordinates.
What: This year we will be underplanting like last year in a conifer plantation (white pine) that was recently thinned. The main objective is to increase the tree and shrub species diversity growing under\within the white pines as these trees will become part of the future forest we are establishing. Along with this overall diversity aim I have chosen a number of ‘mast’ (nut or berry) producing species which provide a valuable food source for wildlife. GRCA's final consideration that went into picking the species is that they could grow within at least some shade as they will be growing in opening underneath the well established pines.
What to bring:
- Shovel or Dog that digs on command
- Gloves
- Water
