Located in the heart of Jacksonville. I read about this spot in a local historical book the day before and visited it during the 4th of July festivities. I actually lived in Jax for several years and never knew it exisited (OK I didn't go downtown much).
This location has an interesting history. Unfortunately the name is the concoction of a local writer who was trying to make it sound more impressive. Amazingly, it had to be saved from the developers during the 60's.
Shouldn't be too hard to spot when you get close. It does make for a nice respite.
To claim credit for this cache email me the answers to the following questions:
1. What is the nickname of this Jax favorite?
2. What is it's name in Latin?
3. How tall is it?
4. How many light poles (not lights) are on the wooden platform in the immediate vicinity?
Hope you enjoy discovering this one.
