This is a local landmark. Very easy access both off and back on to 101 if you are just passing through. Easiest access is from the Murray Road exit.
This landmark has been in the area for well over 40 years. It was built at the same time that the land around it was developed, back around 1962. It was erected by Ernie Pierson, who also built Pierson Building Center in Eureka, (Look for the giant hammer...) as well as the original Eureka Mall. (Thanks to Geocacher Rahndo for this info.) It has been fully restored at least once since it has been built. I first saw it back in 1973, when my family moved to the area.
It was listed in the Guiness Book of Records as the tallest structure of it's type in the world. It's not anymore, but it's still very close to the tallest.
To "find" the cache, please email me with the following answers. Please don't post any photos or descriptions in your visit report that would give the answer away. Thanks!!
What type of structure is it??
How tall is it???
What type of material was it built from? (Please be specific)
How old is this material???
Enjoy the stop!!
