There is no obligation to purchase anything, but they do have a great reputation for good ice cream given in huge portions (right, Frank?!! LOL), limited hot food, and a portajohn. The convenience type General Store across the road has an excellent deli, hoagies, pizza, etc. They also have gas, diesel, free compressed air, and other misc items. Their restroom is for customers only.
Come join us just for the event or come and spend all day caching in the area. There will be new caches publishing the day of the event, plus there are already over 200 geocaches located within 3 miles of the event.
There are caches of all types, sizes, difficulties & terrains close by so there is something for everybody.
You will be within 2-3 miles of over 150 caches on 2 connecting rail trails - the Redbank Valley Trail (RVT) and the Armstrong Trail. All trails now have an improved surface so you can either hike or bike (only exception is the RVT Sligo Spur over near Rimersburg - it is still a bit rough). In 2014 the RVT was named as PA's Trail of the Year.
You'll be within 1 mile of over 30 caches in state game lands - most don't require any bushwacking, there are a couple of challenge caches, and there are a couple with a higher D or T rating.
There are also 20-30 other caches scattered through out the immediate area, many of which are fairly quick P&Gs with minimal walking required.
There is a 5/5, "GC3VT8F - Stranded", located on the RVT - read description before coming if you plan to go for it.
UPDATE - There have been over 20 new caches placed that are set to publish the day of the event, mostly on the Redbank Valley Trail.
UPDATE - A Dönerstag Event will also be held at this location on Thursday, April 13, 5-6 pm. See GC71R39. It won't pop up when you click on the map since there are 2 events scheduled at the same place. If you attend, you'll get a virtual souvenir for your profile. It is set for 5-6 pm to give folks time to get to Maundy Thursday services in the evening.
