This is the first of four caches that highlight maple sugaring at the Chellberg Farm. An answer sheet is in cache 1. Complete the questions for each of the four sites & stamp your sheet with the punch provided in each cache. Give the completed answer sheet to a ranger for a reward while supplies last. If a park ranger is not in site, collect your treasure at the Indiana Dunes National Visitor Center located at GPS: N41.6336 W87.0544 between hours 8:30a and 4p.
This cache explains the different grades of maple syrup. The Chellbergs collected sap from the nearby sugar bush and boiled it in their sugar shack to produce maple syrup. The sample syrup found in this cache is the grade they would have made. Once you find the cache you will be able to tell others about the grade they produced. Note that the sample is for viewing only and not for consumption.
