Geocache Description:

We are pleased to welcome you back to North Carolina for GeoWoodstock 15!

Please come on over to Lake Julian Park on Sunday 28th May 2017 from 9am to 11am! Say goodbye to friends leaving for home, reminisce about yesterday :)..and help this park develop a nice new area!!

Buncombe County Recreation Services has a large section of this park that would like to have landscaped. We will perform some of the plantings and preparation associated with the project. Currently there is no landscaping on that section of the park and it is a space that they have put a lot of effort into additional functionality.

The listed coordinates are where we should congregate in the park. You must access the park at N 35 28.740 W 082 31.471 (waypoint "IN" added to the cache waypoints)  -- which is the Hendersonville Road entrance to the Lake Julian Park. The CITO event will NOT be at the Long Shoals Road entrance to Lake Julian Park, there is NO pedestrian access between the two sections of the park. We have also added two waypoints for parking (PK and PK2) inside the correct section of the park.

The park can handle high numbers, but parking is a little limited at times..so the fewer cars geocachers bring the more spots available for event and park goers. We've provided alternate parking co-ords for those who want to carpool on over to the event; that would be much appreciated.

Lake Julian Park is a family recreational facility located on the banks of 300 acre Lake Julian in Arden. The park offers picnicking, boating, fishing, a playground, outdoor games and special events. Lake Julian is a decent sized lake of about 300 acres or so and was created to cool the powerplant that is located on one shore of the lake.

Look for the NCGO / GW15 banner!

Big thanks to our local host OzGuff and Buncombe County Recreation Services for helping on this.

Nothing could be finer than to cache in Carolina....AGAIN!
