Urupukapuka Island is the largest island in the Bay of Islands. Managed by the Dept of Conservation it has 3 camping sites, lovely beaches, cliffs, wetlands and native bush. There are a number of walks that take in all these while enjoying stunning views.
Heading into Urapukapuka bay there is a small trail of the side of the path to where you will over look a shag colony. Hidden from sight the cache can be found hidden at the base of a small tree to the right while you are viewing the shag population. Please use caution with approach as the hill could be tricky , so watch your footing. The cache is attached to the tree by its stringy so please make sure you don't break it. Bring your own pen. There are toilets at the bottom of the hill. Good idea to bring extra tp while it's busy just in case.
