[ITA] CANDOGLIA
ll primo paese che si incontra proseguendo da Mergozzo in direzione Domodossola è Candoglia, un piccolo agglomerato di case stretto tra le montagne e il fiume Toce. In questa frazione, chiamata Canduja nel dialetto locale, si trova la cava di marmo donata dagli Sforza alla Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo per la costruzione della cattedrale che è infatti in marmo rosa di Candoglia. Ancora oggi le cave sono di proprietà della Fabbrica, che le utilizza per i continui restauri e rifacimenti necessari al Duomo. Il nucleo antico del paese si trova infatti tutt'attorno alle strutture di servizio delle cave, da dove parte la strada che risale la montagna.
Con questa cache Wherigo vi proponiamo un tour virtuale guidato alla scoperta del vecchio e del nuovo che si nascondono all'interno di questo paese e che spesso vengono trascurati sia dai visitatori che dagli stessi abitanti.
Per portare a termine questo giro vi consigliamo di proseguire a piedi o in alternativa in mountain bike. La durata complessiva è di circa 30 minuti a passo tranquillo, considerando che rispondiate correttamente a tutte le domande e troviate la cache senza problemi.
Per chi non fosse esperto con questo tipo di cache, ecco alcune informazioni per aiutarvi: prima di tutto è necessario essere in possesso di un dispositivo GPS in grado di leggere cartucce Wherigo o di una app simile (es. WhereYouGo); da QUI bisogna poi scaricare sul vostro dispositivo la cartuccia relativa a questa cache. Una volta aperta, il resto dovrebbe poi diventare più facile: basta infatti seguire le indicazioni che compariranno sul vostro schermo per completare il tour e raggiungere la cache. [ENG] CANDOGLIA
The first village you come across when leaving Mergozzo and heading towards Domodossola is Candoglia, a small cluster of houses nestled between the mountains and the river Toce. It is in this hamlet, called Canduja in the local dialect, that the marble quarry donated by the House of Sforza to the Veneranda Fabbrica of Milan Cathedral is located. This made possible the construction of the Cathedral, which is in fact made of Candoglia's pink marble. Even today, the quarries are still owned by the Fabbrica, which uses them for the continuous repairs and renovations the Cathedral needs. The old town extends in fact all around the service facilities of the quarries, from where the road that climbs up the mountain also departs.
With this Wherigo cache, we would like to invite you on a tour to discover the old and the new that are hidden whitin this village and that are often overlooked by both visitors and the inhabitants themselves.
To complete this tour, we suggest you continue either on foot or alternatively by mountain bike. The estimated total duration is 30 minutes at a leisurely pace, provided you answer all questions correctly and find the cache without any problem.
For those who don't have much experience with this kind of caches, here are some information to help you: first of all, you need to have a GPS device able to read Wherigo cartridges or a similar application (e.g. Whereyougo); from HERE, you'll then need to download on your device the cartridge related to this cache. Once you open it, the rest should become easier: you'll just have to follow the instructions that will appear on your screen to finish the tour and reach the cache.
