The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest bird in the world, reaching speeds of over 200 miles per hour in its characteristic hunting stoop. To help them see during these manuevers they possess a third eyelid which keeps debris out of their eyes. This majestic bird can be found anywhere on Earth, except for polar regions. Falcons like to nest in high, out of the reach places, such as high up in a tree, or their favorite place, in a cliffside. Pictured is an injured Peregrine Falcon under the care of the Operation Wildlife. And those of you wondering, my Geocaching handle actually comes from the Battletech universe.

I took the picture you see at the Smithville Lake Eagle Days - yes you get to be that close to the birds. More information can be found at the Missouri Department of Conservation Eagle Days page.
