A bioretention garden uses sand, soil, and plants to remove sediment and contaminants from rainwater runoff. This garden is designed to filter the runoff from the adjacent parking lot and reduce the amount of pollutants that flow into the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary a mile or so away.
