Visit the Fort Worth Police & Firefighters Memorial, located at the north end of Trinity Park adjacent to 7th Street. Gather information from the displays there, and then find a log sheet to sign. Take the time to read and ponder what you see at the memorial - you will be glad you did so.
This multi-staged geocache has only one physical component - the final stage. Everything leading up to the final is virtual.
Go to the posted coordinates. There is convenient parking there. Once at the coordinates, look east and you will see a pathway that leads to a sizable statue. As you walk east down the path, there will be plaques on both sides of the path. Peace Officers are on the left, and Firefighters are on the right.
The terms "1st", "2nd", etc., below refer to your approach as you walk east on the path.
- 1st Peace Officer (on the left)... How old was he when he died? Answer = AB.
- 1st Firefighter (on the right)... How many months did he work for the Fort Worth Fire Department? Answer = CD.
- 2nd Peace Officer... How old was he when he died? Answer = EF.
- 2nd Firefighter... How old was he when he died? Answer = GH.
- 3rd Peace Officer... How old was he when he died? Answer = JK.
- 3rd Firefighter(s)... This plaque memorializes two Firefighters. How many years did the younger man work for the FWFD? Answer = LM. How old was he when he died? Answer = PR.
- 4th Peace Officer... How many years did he work for the Fort Worth Police Department? Answer = S.
- 4th Firefighter... How many years did he work for the FWFD? Answer = TU.
- 5th Police Officer... For how many years in prison was the offender sentenced? Subtract 15 from that number. Result = V.
- 5th Firefighter(s)... This plaque memorializes two Firefighters. How many more years did the older man work for the FWFD than the younger man? Answer = XZ.
