Social Event for ALL

This is the Otak Group 2017 salute to all the Geocachers that visit the area throughout the year. We want to meet YOU!
Come to Otak for an opportunity to meet a few of your fellow geocachers for a day of new geoadventures, camaraderie, exercise, and some good old-fashioned fun. Talk of old caches, puzzles and HINTS.

This is a "Rain or Shine Event'. Caches will be placed throughout Mankato, North Mankato area. No particular focus. Wooded Parks, Urban and Trail caches. Should you care to join in all information needed will be available. Your individual needs to bring. All variations of Tott. INSECT REPELLENT is often forgotten.

We will have the Coffee, Water, Juice and Breakfast snacks should you join us at 8:00 AM.

Costumes
Wear your favorite Western costume. Prize for best costume of the event.
Registration
Registration/Staging Area Registration starts at 8:00AM at the Mankato Elks Nature which are the coordinates provided for this GeoFest. The caching event will run from 9:00AM - 3:00PM.

A cache log sheet, hard copies of the coordinates, and a map showing the general location of the cache placements will be provided to participants during registration. Elks Nature Center will be manned throughout the day. For those who may need a break, refreshments or whatever. There will be somebody at the registration area during the event to answer questions or to provide hints. Call for help, contact numbers to be provided. Twitter (@OTAKGroup) will again be used to provide hints, updates, and coordinate corrections (if needed) during the event.

Caches
There will be approximately 24 permanent caches placed for this event. Caches will be available on Geocaching.com after 3 PM on the day of the event. You will be able to drive to and park near most of the cache locations along with biking and/or hiking to them. Caches are not just P&G. Expect to find variations in difficulty and terrain. Hints provided.

GPSr Downloads
We will have coordinates available for download to your device. Delorme, Garmin, Lowrance, and Magellan. We have MINI USB-B, MINI USB, AND MICRO USB cables. If you are not sure, please bring your own. If you have a different brand of GPSr, we will try to assist you in loading the way points, but we make no guarantees that we will be successful. Permanent caches will be posted on Geocaching.com after 3 pm.

Travel Bugs
We will be having a temporary travel bug hotel set up at registration so trading of trackables can occur. The travel bugs will be at the Elks Nature Center later in the day for the post event. Any travel bugs left over will be moved along by the Otak Group.
WHEN THE CACHING IS DONE
Post Event/Door Prizes
Post Event will be at the Mankato Elks Nature Center. Sodas, Sloppy Joes, Water and some munchies will be provided. Foods to pass are welcome but not required. The Nature Center should have enough room in case of inclement weather. Event evaluations will be made available. Door prizes will be awarded at the social hour/ 3-4:30 /dinner hour.
