GEOCACHING CHALLENGES:
Competitors may participate in as few or many challenges as they'd like (as long as we have open slots!) Please note: Priority placement in events will be given first to those who competed in previous challenges.
The following geocaching challenges have been announced for this year's Geocaching Laff-A-Lympics:
- Swag Put - Use your geocaching swagtastic powers to determine the number of trinkets and toys were "put" inside a transparent container without removing the lid or the contents. This is open to all ages with seperate prizes for the best adult and child guess!
- Cache Lifting - Use your finely-honed geo-senses to determine the weight of a special geocache container. The best estimation of the container's actual weight (without going over our official measurement) wins! This is open to all ages with seperate prizes for the best adult and child guess!
- Mystery Hurdles - Be the first to solve a short series of mind-warping puzzles and turn in the correct answer that are shared before the event. There will be multiple (mysterious) opportunities to participate in this challenge. Keep your eyes open on social media and this page! The winner will be announced during the awards ceremony on Saturday.
- Ammo Can Golf - Everyone's favorite is back for 2017! Using multiple "strokes", toss (and land) your ammo as close to the target as possible! We'll take the shortest distance from all of your throws (don't worry, it's not a sum!) and the competitor with the closest toss will win!
- Micro Bocce - Toss weighted micros (pill bottles) and try and get as close to a duck cache as possible for points! Play will begin in teams until all but one has been eliminated from play. The remaining team will then split and play against each other until only one competitor remains!
- Tri-Cachelon - It's three geocaching challenges, all rolled into one: A 1200-Meter Multi-Cache, followed by a test of "GPS" Accuracy, plus a "Tool Of The Trade" challenge using makeshift tools!
- 25 Trackable Dash - A scavenger hunt like no other -- be the first to track down the most codes for a unique list of trackables.
- CITO Ball - Race back and forth across an Olympic-sized field as you "clean up" special trash items. The first to cross the finish line with their items will be declared the winner!
Please Note: Many of these competitions will require walking around in great Colorado outdoors. Please dress appropriately and be sure to bring your sunscreen, hats, water bottles, and other essentials to keep yourself hydrated and happy!
