Welcome to Halloween in May at Cantine Field in Saugerties, NY for geocachers and anyone interested in the game. This will officially begin at 1:00pm and conclude at 5:00pm, but anyone is welcome to come and go as they please. There will be activities during the entirety of this time. This is a rain or shine event as most activities will take place under the pavillion or can easily be moved there in case of rain and will only be cancelled in case of severe weather. Below, activities will be listed as well as some potluck style needs for the event. It is not required to bring something, but would be apppreciated.
Activities:
Most of these will either be occuring during the whole event or do not have a scheduled time. Information will be listed next to each activity. Participation is not required.
Costume Contest 3:00pm
Costumes are not required to attend, but the contest will be available for anyone who wants to participate. Please keep all costumes family friendly. Please contact me (olliehugschu) with any questions about this. There will be both a children's and adult catagory and prizes for each. Adults will be judged on a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize basis with geocache supplies awarded to each winner off of the prize table. Children's categories will be scariest, best, funniest, and most original instead and participation ribbons will be given to the others as well as prizes for all participants.
Group Photo 3:30pm
A group photo will be taken around 3:30 to remember the first year of this annual event. It is encouraged to take and share other photos as well. If allowed, it would also be nice to have photos of things such as costume contest winners.
Raffle 4:00pm
As things draw to a close, there will be a raffle of both geocaching and Halloween items held. This will be a free raffle for the items where one entry is given to each person for attending. There will be a container to put your name in to be called. Once called, you may choose any item on the table for the free raffle. You must be present to win due to how it is being held and shipping costs.
Travel Bug Swap All Day
I will have an area set up specifically for travel bugs looking for a new companion to carry them along. Simply place the item in the "cache" as usual and wait for someone to stumble upon it. Upon completion of the event, any trackables left unclaimed will still be placed for travel. I (olliehugschu) will take them and move them along so that nothing happens to them. This is optional and everyone is welcome to exchange the old fashioned way or not at all if they so choose.
Craft Table All Day
Make your own mask, design a pumpkin, and coloring will be available.
Scavenger Hunt No Scheduled Time Weather Dependant
Geocaching is like a large scavenger hunt so this is a chance to use those geosenses. There will be camo eggs hidden about the area near the pavillion and there will be colour coded coins inside to show what type of prize will be recieved (small, medium, or large). These prizes will be redeemed just before the raffle unless you are leaving early. In that case, find me (olliehugschu) and I will give it to you early. Please limit your finds to 2 per person. You may grab/look for eggs as you come across them during your visit.
Mingle All Day
Besides optional scheduled activities, everyone is more than welcome to just mingle, swap travel bugs, etc as well.

Park rules/information:
In addition to the activites I have planned, the park offers tennis courts, baseball fields, a skatepark, soccer fields, playground areas, basketball courts, an ice arena, picnic, cooking areas, open space, and a nearby trail. Feel free to utilize these while visiting. Just be aware that each area must be used for it's intended purpose (only children on playground equipment, playing tennis at the tennis court, etc.)
- Please refrain from bringing alcoholic beverages.
- Sadly, pets are not allowed within the park.
- Please seperate trash and recyclables when disposing of items.
- No smoking please.
- The park closes at 11:00pm. You are welcome to stay after the event is over, but be aware of the closing time.
- Please respect the park as it is town property.
