Game hints
- The game is played on a 5x5 grid which runs North-South and East-West. This is not square to the playing area. See the pic for the layout.
- There are 4 ladders and 3 snakes.
- You need to spin the exact number to reach the final square.
- Although the Cache Location is shown as a Location once you reach the final square it is recommended that you navigate using your GPS. The game will get you to the general location. The game will show the total number of spins when you enter the Game Location zone
- On the odd chance that the spinner does not automatically show up, exit the square and come back in.
- Sometimes you may think you are in loop – it’s all random numbers and sometimes this happens. Persevere or restart, your choice.
- If you land on square 3, you will be able to discover a trackable.
Arboretum Info
Lots of info about this location is on the board in the parking area.
Permission was granted to place this cache here – “the meeting agreed to the geo-caching, it's a park to be enjoyed by as many as we can encourage. If they found rubbish and removed it along the way all the better. It would be nice to think that those involved would have enough intelligence to protect young plants and trees/shrubs, and they would follow tracks already there, within reason.”
Uneven ground and young trees - watch where you are going!
Gumboots may be more comfortable after rain and when dew on ground
Hints for Wherigo Beginners
- Android app is WhereYouGo
- Install onto your phone.
- Connect to your computer in file transfer mode.
- Move the file you downloaded into the WhereYouGo folder
- Open the app and play the game.
- When testing on my daughters phone we couldn’t find the default folder, so we created a new folder on her device in the same place as Downloads folder and put the file in there. When we opened WhereYouGo we went into Settings->Global-> File Locations and changed the default location to the newly created folder
