Geocache Description:

Welcome to Silvertown Ballpark!!

This park was built in the early 1930's by the B.F.Goodrich company for the entertainment of their employees. It is a classic covered seat "old timey" ballpark. Through the years, the park has hosted many high school, mill and semi-pro baseball teams. The park has the destinction of having the only 28 strike out game in history. In April of 1948, a local R.E.Lee High School player by the name of Hugh Frank Radcliff struck out 28 batters in a single game. The extra strike out came when a batter advanced to first base after the catcher missed the ball.

In the past few years, the park was refurbished and also rededicated. The rededication ceremony had retired Major League pitcher Bob Feller as the host. Feller had played at this ballpark earlier in his career. Today the park is home to the Upson-Lee Knights baseball team.

This is a field where dreams are made. Come catch a game and a cache!!
