There are numerous ways to approach the cache. Some are harder than others but none are easy. The safest is probably using trail 638 until you are east of the cache or ENE of it. I was less than a half mile from the cache when I left the trail. Be careful in the immediate area of the cache. There is no need to do anything scary if you pick the right route. The cache should be an easy find using the hint.
The FTF will get to pick up physical evidence of Hugh's presence but I put photographic evidence inside the lid for future finders to discover. With the hint it should be an easy find. The difficulty is in figuring out a good route to the cache. Hugh Glass did it and so can you.
