Geocache Description:

The geocache is a small container in a tree near the burn area.  My goal is for this to be a short-term cache and use your photos to watch the burned area come back to life. When the area is fully recovered I'll create a short animation of all your photos, send out to participants, and retire the cache.  Submitting a photo is not required to log the cache.

On February 19th, 2017 there was a small brush fire near my home.  Thanks to our awesome fire department this was contained very quickly with only the loss of a few fences and the burned area you'll see at the location.

This morning I was walking my dog and saw that some green shoots were already sprouting out of the blackness.  I thought it would be really cool to have a time-lapse style video of this area Revitalizing over the next few months.

You are not required to submit a photo to log this cache.  If you do decide to participate take a picture of the burned area near the cache and submit in your log - even if this was a DNF for you - and after the area is fully recovered I will send a short time-lapse video to all who participated. (Having yourself and your fellow geocachers in the photos with the burn area in the background is encouraged.)

The geocache is not far from the sidewalk.  This is a neighborhood dog walk path so you may want to use some stealth - but we're tough and can endure muggle inquistive stares. laugh
