This cache is located on a wonderful bush track.
The cache is located 10 mins from the start of the track (carpark), but you can continue on for the full 3 hour trail if you're up for the stroll. Absolutely wonderful place to bring the family. Picnic tables available.
This is a re-creation of the 2010 cache "Totally Rocks" (GC23Q16) by dead-reckoning which was archived despite our efforts to keep it alive. We feel this is a beautiful area that deserves to be discovered and explored so we're reviving it for your caching pleasure.

HISTORY:
The Box Vale Track - also referred to as "The Welby Coal Railway" - is uniquely different, and anyone with an interest in history will be sure to find this a fascinating walk, especially for the railway enthusiast.
The railway only operated for 8 years, between 1888 and 1896 and serviced a coal mine that operated in the Nattai Gorge. The rail route includes an 85 metre long tunnel and a loading area. The loading area is situated at the top of a steep incline that was used to haul the coal in skips up from the gorge below. Various information panels and photographs of the time are displayed along the route.
The track is about 5km in length, return trip taking you about 3 hrs. The track is relatively flat for the entire walk except for where several wooden bridges are no longer in place, and passes through cuttings, along embankments and through the tunnel.
