Boulia is known as the capital of the Channel Country, linked with Mount Isa by a bitumen road, 300km to the north, known as the Diamantina Development Road or the Min Min Byway. This makes Boulia a part of the Outback Way – Australia’s Longest Shortcut which connects from Winton through to Laverton in Western Australia.
Alice Springs, via the Donohue and Plenty Highways is approximately 800km west. The road is predominantly gravel, however does have stretches of bitumen. It is the most direct route to Alice Springs from Western Queensland.
