Geocache Description:

The church:

Most of the church of St. Mary the Virgin, Calverleigh, dates from the reign of Edward III, having been built in around 1337. However, the south aisle is later and dates from the early 16th Century. The church is set into a gentle hillside and bounded on three sides by woodlands.

There is a large pond at the bottom of the churchyard so please take care if caching with children or pets.

The cache:

This is intended to be a straightforward two-stage multi. It requires the collection of some numbers from two monuments within the churchyard and the finding of a final container a short distance away. You are looking for a small plastic box containing a log, all housed within a camo bag with velcro fastening.

Please take care on the steps you will encounter by taking the 'obvious' / direct route from the church to GZ. They are steep and not in the best of condition, but perfectly usable with care. The area around the steps can also be very overgrown at times during summer. However, if you would prefer not to use them, it is possible to 'go the long way round' by walking down towards the village hall (i.e. back towards the main road) and turning left back up the hill.

The headline coordinates will take you to a small memorial to William Ditchett and his wife, Mary, which is situated next to a path at the side of the church.

William died in the year ABCD..

Head to the porch. There is a small plaque on the noticeboard commemorating the "Principle of Ingleside School". This person has E letters in her surname.

Find the bench placed in memory of Ron Rowe. It shows that Ron was born in 1FG5.

Finally, find the grave of Lieutenant Colonel James Dighton Butler. The grave states he was in "Probyn's Horse and Hth / Jth The Royal King's Hussars.

The coordinates of the physical cache are:

N 50º (B - G) (C + A) . (ZERO) F F

W 003º (H / E) (D - E) . (ZERO) (H + J + D)

The cache itself should be a fairly straightforward find. Please re-conceal the container as found. Many thanks.
