MT RIDDOCK HOMESTEAD:
Bennet Mark Webb and Louis Schaber jointly took up a lease of Ramberana in the Harts Ranges in 1910 and later expanded to include the Mt Riddock lease in about 1918. Webb and Schaber built their first homestead on Ramberana in 1910 and in 1928 built the Mt Riddock homestead. It was a 2 roomed log construction using drop slabs of local pine and mortised bush timber uprights. Bennet and his wife Jane reared their children in the Mt Riddock homestead. The Webbs abandoned the log cabin several years later for a new homestead.
The log cabin was then moved by the Cadzow family who purchased the property from the Webbs, to the Gemtree Caravan Park. Gemtree is now custodian of the Heritage listed building. A grant was received to relocate the building and another received to prepare a display of interpretive panels of the neighbours of Mt Riddock in the 1920-30s.This project is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
