Kingsbury Reserve has recently undergone an upgrade with the addition of bioretention system at a cost of just over $400,000. As part of the system, the plants used here help to filter out contaminents before they make it into Wolli Creek (just on the other side of the M5) and the rubbish traps also grab larger storm water items so they don't make it into our waterways.
A big pat on the back to council for investing in this feature to help keep rubbish out of the system as far upstream as possible. This cache also adds to the collection of caches that are available along the M5 East Linear Park.
Please take care when retrieving and replacing.
The cache is named after the Australian Crawl song Lakeside (watch band perform the song on Countdown), was a song from the Sirocco album released in 1981. The album topped the Australian charts and remained there for six weeks. If you don't know the track already, do take a listen as I guarantee you'll be singing "Lakeside, lakeside, lakeside" all the way to the cache.
