This was one of our target geocaches for this county today. We are grabbing it to light up this county on our Georgia + County run the next 12 days. This is day four of the trip. We found the cache, and it was in fine working order. We added our ink and replaced it as found. Thanks for adding to my adventure. On to the next geocache!

TODAY’S ADVENTURE:
Today I awoke in LaGrange, GA and this starts day four of our 12 day County Run Adventure. My phone started singing 45 minutes before my alarm. Not wanting to wake my buddy, I kept silencing the phone. Well one of those musical tones was my alarm and I shut it off not realizing it. 13 minutes after our meet up time at the van, I received a call from one of the other two travel mates. We scrambled out of bed and down to the van. With stopping for gas and some food we ended up hitting the road about 45 minutes behind schedule. Drat!

This morning we awoke to rain and temp of 45 degrees. At least there was little to no wind. It didn’t take long and the rain finally stopped and the temps started to climb. We ended up seeing the sun for a few hours and the temps rose to 64 degrees. Still better than the single digits and snow at home up in Michigan!

We worked our way South from LaGrange, GA. We snaked our way into Alabama and then back into Georgia.. At the bottom of Georgia, we cut across 2/3rds of Alabama. Then we turned back E/B into the Florida Pan Handle. Today I had about 40 plus finds in 23 new counties between the three states!

Highlights of today’s travels included some time at Fort Benning. We looked at the Unit Monuments, statues, and armored vehicles on display. We visited an unusual outdoor museum, and a historic tree. We found all the geocaches we searched for but one! All in all another great day on the road geocaching with like minded fun friends! We ended our travels today in Crestview FL.

TRIP SUMMARY:
The past couple of years I have teamed up with RXWrangler, Team Geochef, and Allenite for a geocaching road trip. The mission is to clear out the counties of a state. This is our third trip and our focus is Georgia this time. The plan also includes a few in Alabama, the top row of counties in Florida, and some of South Carolina. RxWrangler put together a route in Cache.tur to help us visit each county. The plan, where possible, is to grab two geocaches per county. He builds a good route. Then Allenite tweaks the caches in cache.tur and we have our plan. Team Geochef and I trade off navigating and driving.

This trip to Georgia is a 12 day adventure. Along our travels we plan to grab a few geocaches in South Carolina, Florida, Alabama and Tennessee if things work out as planned. Time will tell. The days are long, and there will be lots of miles covered but there are always laughs with this crew and we walk away with at least another state completed and some advanced work on several neighboring states towards future visits. The other bonus is that on this trip I expect to ink my 40,000th geocache! This will be a fun milestone with these guys. To save room on the logs we are signing all the logs as KART, the first letter of each of our geocaching names. TFTC

Thanks to the CO’s for placing these fine geocaches for all to find. With these finds I am able to keep my daily geocaching streak going one more day. I am trying to check off open boxes for some of the challenges I’m working on. Time will tell how that goes. Thanks for adding to my adventure and for helping me to play the game within the game.
