Anybody who knows me or who has read one of my recent logs will have heard me use the term 'Self-licking Ice Cream' when it comes to geocaching. I've placed a definition of the term above, but to explain what I mean, I'll give an example. In May 2015 I did all the caches (except two) on Staircase Road which is off the Top Valley Road in the Richmond Ranges on the Northbank of the Wairau River. When I got to work the following Monday morning, I told my fellow cachers about the trip and a few months later one of them travelled to the area, got some caches and placed some more. A few days later one of the regions most prolific placers did the same and a month after that another of my fellow cachers did the same again. Which is why, when I recently decided to get the two caches I left behind on that day back in May 2015, there were now nine other caches to get as well. Hence the term Self-licking Ice Cream.
Before I started geocaching, I had ventured up the Mt Fishtail track twice. The first time we turned back once we got above the bushline and discovered the weather had turned nasty. The second time we got as far as the Mt Fishtail Hut, but a lack of time prevented us going further. Today three quarters of Team W.A.S.P along with NZDi were lured up by a D5/T5 cache (Fuzzy Wuzzy - GC10FW9) and it was noticed there was a distinct lack of caches between Pine Valley Hut Site (GC4TPF4) and Gone Fishing (GC4NX8K)... we rectified that situation.
You may note the title of this cache is 'Self-licking Ice Cream No. 2', it is my intention to place a further three or four 'Self-licking Ice Cream' caches with different coloured container lids. I will then place another 'Self-licking Ice Cream Bonus' cache and you will be able to work out the coordinates from information gathered from the previous five or six, so it might pay to take note of the colour of the container lid as it might come in handy one day for this:

This will be the first new cache you come to after the Pine Valley Hut Site (effective 19 Mar 2017) and like my Self-licking Ice Cream No. 1 cache, is a 62ml Sistema container with a write in the rain log sheet and a different coloured lid to No. 1.
I took the coordinates for this cache on the way up and when I checked them on the way down, they were 23m out, so I took another set. Who knows which are more accurate, so don't be afraid to use the hint. There is no room for TBs or a pen (so bring your own) but there is a little room for small swag such as emeralds.
