Geocache Description:

This cache is our first and seemed an obvious choice for anyone visiting Workington, giving fantastic views of the distant mountains inland and the sea. On a clear day you have great views of Skiddaw and Blake Fell on the cumbrian side and Robinrigg offshore windfarm the scottish coastline including the Criffel and the Isle of Man.

The monument placed here has an interesting history, it was placed by a local business man as a lasting dedication to his wife who sadly died. The council were upset that he hadn't sought permission first, but fortunately the townsfolk came out in support and permission was granted.

The cache is hidden in a very obvious way once you arrive at the coordinates, although it can be busy at times you should be able to log without looking too much out of place. You will need your own pen and tweezers too.

Thanks to Peter Nelson for kindly allowing us to place at this lovely location.
