One of a series of caches dedicated to The Three Stooges
Shemp Howard, 03/11/1895 - 11/22/1955, was born Samuel Horwitz and brother of Moe and Curly. Shemp was actually the original third stooge. Shemp was the third stooge in their vaudeville act and in their first movie, Soup to Nuts. When the Stooges began to make the shorts Shemp elected to strike out on his own and was having successful career when on May 6, 1946 Curly suffered a stroke. Shemp stepped up to replace Curly while he recuperated but Curly's health continued to deteriorate and upon his death Shemp became the third stooge until his own death.
