Geocache Description:

A fascinating learning experience about ancient Hong Kong in a small, but well designed museum.  Free admission.

In August 1955, a tomb was accidentally discovered during the construction of the former Lei Cheng Uk Resettlement Estate.  The University of Hong Kong and workers of the Public Works Department subsequently excavated the tomb.  Dated from the time of the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25-220), the tomb produced fifty-eight pottery and bronze objects ranging from cooking and food storage vessels to household items such as mirrors and a bell.  You can even look directly inside the actual tomb.  The real mystery is that no human skeletal remains were found.

A small gallery museum was opened in 1957 to display the tomb objects and provide some background history to the tomb and the surrounding area.  The museum is now designated as a branch of the Hong Kong Musuem of History.  See the Wikipedia page for more details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lei_Cheng_Uk_Han_Tomb_Museum

Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum - 41 Tonkin Street, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon.  Opening Hours: 10 am to 6 pm (closed on Thursdays except Public Holidays)  Travelling by MTR - Cheng Sha Wan exit A2 and head up Tonkin Street.

The Cache:  Hidden inside the Lei Cheung Uk Garden (opening hours 7am-11pm).  To find the GZ, locate the entrance to the museum gallery and enter the garden gates directly to the right of the museum.  The GZ is that small area with a few benches looking at the dirt covered dome mounds of the Han tomb.  Please be stealthy as this is a high traffic area for the local residents.

Some swag gifts are included for the FTFinder.

By all means, visit the small museum and the lovely Han style Chinese garden with natural rock statues surrounding the tomb.
