Møreaksen er en påtenkt fergefri forbindelse på E39 Kyststamveien over Romsdalsfjorden. Selskapet Møreaksen står bak planene.
Viktigste planlagte del er en 15,5 km og 330 m dyp undersjøisk tunnel med to løp og fire felt under øya Tautra i Romsdalsfjorden vest for Molde. Tunnelinnslaget på fjordens sørside skal bli ved Vik i Vestnes kommune. Det er også planlagt bro over Julsundet vest for Molde. I tilknytning til forbindelsen planlegges det fast forbindelse med bro og moloer mellom øyene Otrøya (Midsund kommune) og Gossa (Aukra kommune).
Forbindelsen vil erstatte dagens ferge på E39 Molde–Vestnes. Overfarten på ferga tar i 2009 ca. 35 min, ruta betjenes av fire ferger (per 2015). Også ferge Mordalsvågen-Solholmen på fv 668 vil bli erstattet av bro over Julsundet (2,3 km) og bli en del av E39. I tillegg vil ferga Aukra–Hollingsholmen på fv 662 bli erstattet av tilknytningsbroen mellom Otrøya og Gossen. Kjøretid mellom Ålesund og Molde vil om Møreaksen realiseres være under en time, men dette er avhengig av to større prosjekt for tilførselsvei frem til der Møreaksen starter og slutter. Disse er ikke fullstendig planlagt enda.

Prosjektet er heftig diskutert i samfunnet og alternativer som Romsdalsaksen og å beholde ferga er fortsatt i diskusjon, selv om politikken sier at det ikke kan diskutertes mer. Noen kritikkpunkter er kostnadene for prosjektet (30-40 milliader kroner mellom Ålesund og Molde) og mangel på planer å videreføre aksen når den kommer på land både i Molde og Vestnes kommune. I tillegg vil bompengene etter Statens vegvesens informasjon ligger et sted mellom 400 og 500 kroner hver retning (Ålesund - Molde), som kanskje ikke vil føre til at arbeidsmarket vokser sammen som folk håper. Det blir spennende å se på, hvordan prosjektet vil utvikle seg i fremtiden.

Møreaksen is a proposed ferry-free connection on the E39 main costal road over the Romsdalsfjord. The company Møreaksen is behind the plans.
The main planned part is a 15.5 km and 330 m deep underwater tunnel with two tubes and four fields under the island of Tautra in the Romsdalsfjord west of Molde. The tunnel entry on the fjords south side shall be at Vik in Vestnes municipality. It is also planned bridge over Julsundet west of Molde. Adjacent to the connection are planned permanent links with bridges and jetties between the islands of Otrøya (Midsund Municipality) and Gossen (Aukra).
The connection will replace the current ferry on E39 Molde-Vestnes. The crossing on the ferry is taking approx 35 min in 2009, the route is served by four ferries (per 2015). Also the ferry Mordalsvågen-Solholmen on Fv 668 will be replaced by a bridge over Julsundet (2.3 km) and become part of the E39. In addition, the ferry Aukra-Hollingsholmen on Fv 662 be replaced by a connection bridge between Otrøya and Gossen. The driving time between Aalesund and Molde will be under an hour if the Møreakse is realized, but this is dependent on two major projects that connects the road system to where the Møreakse starts and ends. These are not fully planned yet.

The project is hotly debated in society and alternatives like the Romsdalakse and the alternative to keep the ferry connections is still in discussion, although politicians say that it can not be discussed any more. Some critic points are the costs of the project (30-40 billion norwegian kroner between Aalesund and Molde) and lack of plans to continue the axis when it comes on land in both Molde and Vestnes municipality. In addition, the toll for using the road (between Ålesund and Molde) shall be somewhere between 400 and 500 norwegian kroner in each direction, which might be to hight to connect the labor markeds of the two cities as people hope. It will be interesting to see, how the project evolves in the future.
