Geocache Description:

GBTE siger farvel

As I am sure many of you know, tomorrow is the departure date for GBTE2017: my 7000 km bicycle tour, geocaching in 15 european countries, for about 5 months.

GBTE website / GBTE facebook page

All of the information is available on my website, but I will try to sumarize things here also.

I planned my route according to the caches I want to get: starting with T5 climbing caches, virtual and webcam, old caches, those with many FP and some of the ones nominated for GOTW.
Also I want to get at least one geo-art during this trip and to host events everywhere I go, in some of the major cities, according to my cycling schedule, but at least one in each country :)
Those are some of the goals I have for this adventure called GBTE, and I estimate that I will find around 2000 geocaches in total.

Of course, it's been in my thoughts from the beginning to host an event just before the departure, but I was struggling with the logistics of it. I wanted it to take place when I leave the city, but also to have enough time to chat with everybody and have a good time.... Time... time is not on my side... I am leaving early in the morning tomorrow(July 5) and I am away for work the days before.

An event at 6:00 AM in the morning would not be cozy for anyone, so instead, the idea came up to make 2 events: a short one in the morning of the departure (GC70MTZ) and this nice, relaxing , cozy one, the evening before. In this manner, people have more than one opportunity to come and chat with me before I leave.

This event ...

Did I ever tell you that I have really awesome friends?

Since my schedule is so tight just before my departure, Jun3 (Julia), 29kenneth (my good friends Lisa and Kenneth) and Potasiu (Andrei) have offered to help me put this all together. (If you also want to help, don't be afraid do get in touch with me and we can chat about it)

We will have cakes and drinks available, and a cozy camp fire. Please mention in your "will attend" log how many people are attending under a single username, so we know how much cake to prepare. Our lovely caterer would like to have this information at least one week before the event, so don't wait until the last moment to write your log!

Attending this event, signing the logbook and logging is free of charge. The caterer is a big fan of GBTE and she has offerd to bake for us free of charge, as support for the trip. Thank you Lisa! The drinks have been purchased from the trip's budget.

Attending the event is free of charge ( see the update announcement from June 13) but there will be a „Donations Box” at the event site.

Will you be there, Tuesday July 4th at 18:00 on Stige O ?

event ends after one hour, but I hope to see some of you next day also...

What is GBTE?

GBTE (Geocaching Bicycle Touring Europe) is my big adventure for the second half of 2017.

On July 5th I will begin this awesome journey: cycling and geocaching through Denmark - Germany - Netherlands – Belgium – France – UK – Andorra – Spain – Italy – San Marino – Slovenia – Croatia – Serbia – Bulgaria and Romania. It is going to be a trip of nearly 7000 km, during almost 5 months and I am targeting at least 2000 caches.

But it's not about the number, not really. I do not care about having 2000 more finds after this trip, as much as I care about the very specific caches I want to get. I planned my route according to the caches, not the other way around: starting with T5 climbing caches, virtual and webcam, old caches, those with many FP and some of the ones nominated for Geocache Of The Week. Basically, all the special caches, you know them!

Yes, I am doing all of these while riding on a fully loaded bicycle, self supported, camping and trying to find hosts on couchsurfing and warmshowers... it's freaking AWESOME! :D

Also, because I love the social part of geocaching, I am hosting events all over along the route! I do hope to meet many local players, to chat, discover TB, and maybe, like on other occasions, find some geocachers that would join me on the T5 geo-hunts. Or maybe offer a meal or a shower, or a bed for a night? Who knows... maybe you know someone that knows someone... It's a long trip, and any bit of help is much appreciated!

I look forward to make many friends during this summer and autumn, so come meet me! There are also a few TB for you to discover: myself, my bike, my logbook, the events.... :D
