This series is named for the Back Roads of Maries County. It was 40+ years ago that we moved here to build a rock house and start our new life. We've placed caches at various locations along the back roads that have had some meaning for us during the time that we've lived here. While out placing caches I realized that this is also an opportunity to show off some back country roads to people who don't often drive them!

Venus is an unincorporated community in Maries County. A post office called Venus was established in 1912, and remained in operation until 1932. The community was named after Venus Riley, a young citizen.
We've been to Venus Park many times, and Rick camped there regularly with local Boy Scout groups for several years. The property owner has built several structures over the years to commemorate the community. He also hosts trail rides a couple times a year when the Brinktown church holds their Spring and Fall dinners.
The container is a small camo-wrapped cylinder. There's room for small TBs and swag. I started it out with a couple of TBs. I don't usually leave an FTF prize, but I found a cool little caribiner-mounted flashlight in my swag box, so this time I did!

Permission for placement of the cache has been granted by the property owner.
