This is an event to encourage geocachers into the "great outdoors" & introduce you to this awesome & family friendly track. It's estimated to take anywhere between 1-2hrs to get to the hut, depending on fitness & abiltiies, so could be achievable for even some of the younger geocachers. Although it is a steady climb up all the way. (but down hill on the way back [;D]).
at approximately 1pm, we will have a shared picnic. Outside if it's nice weather, inside if not.
As with any time you go walking in the bush, you should carry the appropriate gear with you - wet weather/warm clothes, sufficient drink, sun block, wear appropriate shoes etc. The weather can change very quickly in the ranges.
Although we're not expecting big numbers to join us, we're hoping anyone who has considered doing this track but would rather do so in a group will take this opportunity.
In the case of particularly bad weather, we will reschedule the event (watch this page for any changes). However we will go ahead with it during mild rain/cold.
There are a couple of caches to pick up on the way, & we're hoping to get around to placing a couple of new caches as well - time permitting. Those that would like to pick up "the secret tarn" as well, could either continue on & do the full loop (about 6-7hrs in total) or return with us to the carpark after the event, & go up "the Deadman's" track, to the cache from there. It takes about another 35 minutes of up hill to get to the "secret tarn" cache, from the carpark
We'll even do some one off pet rocks for the event for those that collect them.
