Der Name Gyenesdiás entstand 1840 durch die Zusammenlegung der beiden Siedlungen Gyenes und Diás. Aufgrund dieser historischen Vergangenheit gibt es im Ort zwei Kirchen, zwei Friedhöfe, zwei Strandbäder und die beiden Eisenbahn-Haltestellen Alsógyenes und Gyenesdiás. Jetzt geht es um den kleinen Bahnhof Gyenesdiás.
Die Nord-Balaton-Eisenbahn fährt von Keszthely nach Tapolca und zurück. Die Strecke wurde im Juli 1903 eröffnet und dem Verkehr übergeben. Endlich waren die Dörfer am Nordufer des Balatons leichter erreichbar. Die alten Dampf-Rösser von damals wurden durch russische Diesel-Lokomotiven der Baureihe M62 ersetzt. Sie sind noch heute in Betrieb. Ein charakteristisches Merkmal der M62 ist das Auspuffgeräusch, das ihr den Spitznamen „Taiga-Trommel“ gab. Die Ungarn nennen sie auch "Szergej".
Auf der eingleisigen Eisenbahnlinie parallel zum Balaton-Radweg verkehren keine Schnell- und Fernzüge. Der Güterverkehr spielt kaum eine Rolle, mehr aber der regionale Personenverkehr für Berufspendler, Schüler, Touristen und Badegäste. Das ist eine gute Nachricht für die Einwohner und Gäste, die nah an der Eisenbahnstrecke wohnen.

Gyenesdiás neve 1840-ben a két településrész Gyenes és Diás összeolvadásakor keletkezett. Ennek a történelmi múltnak köszönhetően a településen két templom, két sírkert, két strand és két vasúti megálló "Alsógyenes" és "Gyenesdiás" is található. Ezúttal a Gyenesdiási vasútállomással foglalkozunk.
Az Észak-Balaton parti vasút Keszthely és Tapolca között közlekedik. A szakaszt 1903 júliusában nyitották meg és adták át a közlekedésnek. Ezzel az északi part települései könnyen megközelíthetővé váltak. Az akkori gőzmozdonyok M62-es orosz dízelmotorokkal váltották fel. A M62-esek jellegzetessége volt a hangos pöfögés (mint egy orosz dob), ezért ezeknek a „Szergej" becenevet adták.
A Balatoni Bringakörúttal párhuzamosan futó egy nyomvonalas vasúti pályán nem közlekednek gyors és távolsági vonatok. Az áruszállítás alig játszik szerepet, többnyire a munkavállalók, iskolások, vendégek és fürdőzök regionális személyforgalma a meghatározó. Ez egy jó hír azon lakosok és vendégek részére, akik a vasúti nyomvonal mellett laknak.

The name Gyenesdiás was created in 1840 by merging the two settlements Gyenes and Diás. Because of this historical past, here are two churches, two cemeteries, two beaches and the two railway stations Alsógyenes and Gyenesdiás. Now it is about the small station Gyenesdiás.
The North-Balaton railway goes from Keszthely to Tapolca and back. The route was opened in July 1903 and handed over to traffic. Finally the villages on the north bank of Lake Balaton were easier to reach. The old steam-engines of then were replaced by Russian diesel locomotives of the series M62. They are still in operation today. A characteristic feature of the M62 is the 2-stroke diesel sound, which gave it the nickname "Szergej, the Taiga drum". Russian Diesel Locomotive Sound at its best!
On the single-track railway line parallel to the Balaton cycle track no express and long-distance trains run. Freight transport plays hardly a role, but the regional passenger transport for traders, students, tourists and bathers. Good news for the residents and guests who live close to the railway line.
