🐙Gone Fishing For Octopus🐙 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

WitchfinderGeneral: Got a message that the last finder broke the branch that the cache was on and it was in the area. Went out today to check it and replace, but could not locate the container. This was a home made container for an event cache cluster. I don't have the time to make another now.

Geocache Description:

Could a giant octopus be living here?

I have always loved fishing. When I was younger me and my friends would ride our bikes over to what we called the creek. There was a cement dock hidden in the weeds that went out into the water about 20 feet. We would catch eels, porgies, bluefish and once in a while a small sand shark. I remember one time catching a MONSTER. We called it a monster because we had no idea what kind of fish it was. Well thats how legends start. The MONSTER was probably a large hackel head but within the weeks to follow the fish tale grew. After that our quiet little dock in the weeds was crowded with people trying to catch their own MONSTER.

When I moved here I was not fimiliar with fresh water fishing so i thought maybe I can give it a try. Over the years i had plenty of fun pulling in large mouth bass and some really nice catfish. This pond became one of our favorite fishing holes.

When i heard about the 1963 ferry incident i became obsessed with trying to see or maybe catch the MONSTER. Why not, according to legend I had allready landed one MONSTER when i was younger. Over the years I fished every lake and  the many miles of shore lines with no luck. One morning I threw my line here and what happened next was amazing. My line ran off my reel like fire and the tip of my rod bent into almost a U shape. What ever I hooked was big, really big and it was moving across this pond at record speed. Then it happened! I believe I saw a giant tenticle flip from the water and crash back down. Could the ferry octopus be on the end of my line. I fought with this beast for about 35 min and in the end just a few feet from the shore another tenticle emerged and ripped my fishing pole from my hand. I never saw the beast again. I have fished here many times since then but never saw or heard about the beast again. Every time me or my kids hook a big bass or a nice carp i think "could this be it".

Im not really sure if what i hooked that day was the giant ferry octopuss or just my imagination running wild. Maybe i was just thinking back to a simple time when i was know as the MONSTER CATCHER. LOL.

If you like fishing try your luck around this pond. Who knows what you might catch.

You are looking for a micro. Please be carefull, dont fall in. Cache is very well camoed and blends in well. Please make sure cache lid is closed tightly. You might need tweezers.
