La Chiesetta di Sant'Antonino di Segnano è un'altro piccolo tesoro di arte e storia del tutto inaspettato.
Perchè un cache qui?
Situata nella periferia nordest di Milano in quello che in origine era il borgo di Segnano, poi frazione del comune di Greco e infine, a partire dagli anni '20 del ventesimo secolo, quartiere di Milano, la chiesetta è ormai circondata da alti palazzi residenziali, che fanno sì che solo chi sa dove cercare la possa trovare.
Cosa rappresenta?
Un esempio di barocco. L'edificio è a pianta rettangolare ed esternamente è privo di decorazioni, a parte un bel fregio in gesso tinto di rosso in stile romanico lombardo. Nella parte posteriore è presente un abside semicircolare.
Gli interni sono, al contrario, riccamente decorati, almeno per quanto riguarda la navata. L'interno dell'abside è infatti spoglio, se non per gli affreschi di Sant’Antonino Martire sulla sinistra e del Beato Ludovico Barbo sulla destra.
La versione attuale della chiesetta risale al sedicesimo secolo, ma essa venne eretta sul luogo dove esisteva una cappella più antica.
L'affresco principale sulla parete sinistra raffigura la battaglia di Legnano avvenuta nel 1176, in particolare si nota l’episodio in cui le tre colombe, partite dalla tomba dei tre martiri dell’Anaunia sita nella Basilica di San Simpliciano, si posarono poi sul carroccio dei cavalieri della Lega lombarda, incoraggiando la loro vittoria.
Secondo la pagina di Lombardia Beni Culturali si tratterebbe invece della battaglia della Bicocca (intorno al 1500, teatro di una famosissima vittoria degli Spagnoli). Il fatto, però che nell'affresco sono riconoscibili delle colombe (intorno alla croce dorata in alto a destra) induce a credere che la prima interpretazione sia quella corretta.
Sulla parete destra, invece, l'affresco principale raffigura la contemplazione della Vergine Maria con il Bambino Gesù da parte di sei santi vescovi di Milano: Geronzio, Benigno, Ampelio, Antonino, Simpliciano, Vigilio e San Carlo Borromeo.
Sull'arcone, invece, sono affrescate delle quinte teatrali tenute aperte dal angeli posti ai due angoli superiori.
Molto bello anche il soffitto a cassettoni, anche esso riccamente decorato.

The Church of St. Anthony of Segnano is another small treasure trove of art and history entirely unexpected.
Why a cache here?
Located in the suburbs northeast of Milan in what was originally the village They mark, then a hamlet of Greek and finally, since the 20s of the twentieth century, the Milan neighborhood, the church is now surrounded by tall apartment blocks, which ensure that only those who know where to look for can find.
What does it represent?
An example of Baroque. The building is rectangular and externally is undecorated except for a beautiful frieze dyed red chalk in the Lombard Romanesque style. In the rear part there is a semicircular apse.
The interior, on the contrary, richly decorated, at least regarding the aisle. The apse interior is in fact bare, except for the Sant'Antonino Martire frescoes on the left and of Blessed Ludovico Barbo the right.
The current version of the church dates back to the sixteenth century, but it was built on the site of an older chapel.
The main fresco on the left wall depicts the battle of Legnano took place in 1176, in particular we see the episode in which the three doves, three games from the tomb of the martyrs dell'Anaunia located in the San Simpliciano Basilica, then rested on carroccio knights of the Lombard League, encouraging their victory.
(According to the page of Lombardia Cultural Heritage they would rather the battle of Bicocca (in 1500, scene of a famous victory of the Spaniards). The fact, however, that are recognizable in the fresco of the doves (around the golden cross at the top right ) leads us to believe that the first interpretation is the correct one.
On the right wall, however, the main fresco depicts the contemplation of the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus by six santi vescovi of Milan: Gerontius, Benigno, Ampelio, Antonino, Simpliciano, Vigilio and San Carlo Borromeo.
Sull'arcone, however, are frescoed of theatrical scenes kept open by the angels set at two upper corners.
Very nice also the coffered ceiling, it also richly decorated.
