Welcome to my second trail; in celebration of my good buddies The Knight Family reaching 10,000 geocaches (or just about to when I put them out). Very well done! Now for the next 10,000???
For the trail: It starts in a useful small car park, just off a lane junction above the village of Borden to the north-east of Rogate, but if a longer walk is needed you could park in Rake or Milland. It’s best to reach the car park from the west (Hillbrow to the east of Liss) as the lane is wider. Go west along a lane, north to drop down into Milland Vale (typical weald countryside), meander a bit around the bottom (including passing a superb old hammer pond), before a bit of a climb back up to the ridge, along the ridge to get back to the car park. Total distance around 6 miles. There are a few muddy areas most of the year; the worst being across the horse field to the north of #7 and the track through the woods around #14. So be prepared! Please no caching in the dark, due to nearby houses and no cycling on footpaths.
Theme, what else could it be about!: Knights: Persons given an honour, historically predominately for military service. They were famed for martial skills, especially on horseback. Knights were also meant to uphold the code of chivalry (issues of religious, moral and social behaviour). Each cach is named after a historic knight (including a few Arthurian legendary Knights). I’ve included a bit of very basic information and under each cach lid has their colours. This may not be 100% accurate. If interested search yourself. There are some interesting stories.
Bertrand Du Guesclin (Eagle of Brittany) (1320-1380): Breton knight and French commander during the Hundred Years war with many victories. Made “Constable of France” – Chief military leader.
