Crofton Woods is owned by the London Borough of Bromley and covers about 60 hectares. It is a site of special scientific interest (SSSI), so please respect it when you walk through and do the caches.
There are a number of information boards throughout the woods where you can learn more about the flora and fauna. Within the woods are public footpaths and a Circular Trail as well as many other paths. You can also walk along part of the London Loop. The path alongside Kyd Brook is hard surfaced, but others are not. In winter, some of the paths get very muddy and require sturdy boots.
We have placed 8 caches with the prefix CW in the woods, but have avoided sensitive areas. More caches may eventually follow. Anyway, the first cache is a traditional cache. It is a small magnetic nano. Watch out for passers-by.
Please note that Crofton Road has a good bus service. There is also on-street parking in side roads.
Permission for cache placement in the SSSI obtained from Ian Wright, Biodiversity Advisor and Site Manager for Crofton Woods and from Natural England.
