If you don't have a key for the Denman Wildlife Area, this will be a hike that will really stretch your legs. With a key you can drive to within feet of the hide. Best to study the map to make sure you don't waste time accessing the wrong trails.
Across from the Upper Table Rock trail parking lot is a gate for the Modoc portion of the Denman Wildlife Area. Lots of fishermen use this area, as well as bow and wild turkey hunters. We've seen deer and lots of wild turkeys in this area, and of course, there's a handful of caches to make the trip worthwhile. This one is located just east of a backwater lagoon where ducks may often be seen. The trail in is a great place to pick blackberries in season. There are numerous parking spots along the bank of the Rogue from which to try for fish. During high water occasions you'll need to wade shallow water to access this spot. Look for a pill bottle under natural cammo.
