The Granary Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

KeiMau3: Unfortunately the fence post which had been the host to “The Granary” was burned in the recent fire has been replaced by a metal t-post which will not work for this cache. As there are no similar hiding spots nearby I am forced to archive this cache 🙁. Thanks to all those who gave this a favorite point. KeiMau3

Geocache Description:

Another little cache along our beautiful 6 Mile Road.  There is a small pullout nearby.  No need to hop any fences.

The Acorn Woodpecker, Melanerpes formicivorus, is a common California bird of the oak woodland.  These woodpeckers will drill holes in trees, fenceposts, telephone poles, and even sides of houses to store acorns during the lean times of winter.  Many of these trees have been used for decades by many generations of birds.  As you search for this hide, look around at some of the trees.  There is a large foothill pine, Pinus sabiniana, nearby that is riddled with holes.
