Giskard byl sestrojen na planetě Aurora, jako jeden z 57 robotů robotika dr. Hanse Fastolfeho. Je nehumanoidním robotem a primárně slouží jako majordomus. Vasilie Fastolfe mu v rámci experimentu implementovala telepatický vzorec, díky němuž umí číst myšlenky lidí a pochody pozitronových mozků robotů. Dokáže také přímo ovlivňovat chování myšlení a chování lidí. Na konci své životnosti předává telepatické schopnosti Daneelovi.

R. Giskard Reventlov was a pre-humaniform robot, one of 57 robots that were designed and built on Aurora by Dr. Han Fastolfe. Primary he was a butler.
