Geocache Description:

For a North American city, Montreal is full of historical places. Some are majestic and catch the eye, others are out of the way and harder to find. This multi-cache will let you discover a few of these places with a past, even if you are not a tourist.

First start by going to the published coordinates: N 45 30.288 W 073 33.408 (WP1) You should then be standing in front of a majestic historical place, in Old Montreal. There is a little square where tourists gather to hear a bit of history on this beautiful place. There is a plaque explaining how to locate Polaris (the north star) by looking over some of the buildings. You can also take a horse ride if you want a tour of old Montreal, or just walk by yourself inside the building. When you are finished, head about five kilometers west to another place with a soul: St-Joseph’s Oratory. You can park for free. To the right of the main entrance is a little information booth. If you stand in front of the blue Information sign on that kiosk, record your position. This is WP2. While you are at it, you can visit the area and learn about Brother Andre, who used to attract a large number of American tourists looking for a miracle and whose heart, kept in formol, was once stolen by students from the close-by Montreal University, as a prank. WP3 is the point located exactly on the middle of the line joining WP1 and WP2. Park on Cedar, near the Montreal General Hospital and go down Cedar towards Pine avenue. You will see on your right firehouse #28 that became a dwelling. Go down the stairs past the firehouse until you reach Pine avenue. From there, use your GPS to reach WP3, which should be at the center of a circle with trees named after a nearby avenue ;-). Sometimes, you will see there green onions in red cars meeting secretely in this secluded place. They cannot fine you for circling around them... From WP3, start looking for the cache, which should be 170 m away, near the street, in a small municipal park named after a great female Montrealer. The cache is a small tube like container. Only small items can fit in. It is located at ground level, easy to find in the summer, harder in the winter.
