This cache is located off a great walking path that connects The Grove neighborhood and Woolridge Road where there is a lake with a nice walking path around it. You'll also find there is quite a bit of history. Midlothian is the site of the first commercially mined coal in Virginia. The Woolridge Brothers in the early 18th-century started a coal mining enterprise called the Mid-Lothian Mining and Manufacturing Company. It is fascninating to walk along this path and see the reminments of these mines. As you will see new fences have been put up to protect these mines. This cache will bring you close to one! Too bad we can't look down in it. For parking (for a short walk) you can park along the street in The Grove Neighborhood (see the waypoint). But for a longer walk (to see more mines), park just off Woolridge Road in a small parking lot that is directly across from the larger parking lot for the lake. Don't forget to bring a pen!
